That post can be found here ) The life of William Loughry (c. 1743–1837) reflects the rugged, migratory existence of the Scots-Irish and Irish immigrants who helped push the American frontier westward from the mid-18th century through the early Republic. From the Old World to the Pennsylvania Wilds Born in Ireland in 1743, William arrived in the American colonies during a period of massive transatlantic migration. Like many Irish immigrants of the era, he sought land and opportunity in Pennsylvania. By 1790, census records place him in Luzerne County, following a stint in the Susquehanna Valley’s "upper country."
